A Weekend of Challenges and Triumphs
Our slalom driver, Sven Plate, showcased his skills at the ASC Ahrweiler Autumn Slalom last weekend.

What started as a seemingly routine race turned into an exciting competition, marked by technical challenges and thrilling moments on the track.
A Strong Start on Saturday
Saturday greeted Sven with perfect autumn weather, and with the FOSSER tent set up in the paddock, the stage was set. However, one issue was causing concern: the axle ratio. Sven worried that the gearing was too long for the course, and unfortunately, this concern was confirmed as the day progressed. The longer gearing forced him to drive the car harder through the gears, making the handling more difficult.
Despite this challenge, Sven’s talent shone through as he managed to secure an impressive 2nd place. The victory was within reach, but a minor mistake—a cone penalty—cost him the top spot. A frustrating but valuable lesson as he headed into the next day.
Fine-Tuning for Sunday
After Saturday’s race, Sven made crucial adjustments to the car. He shortened the axle ratio to better suit the track for Sunday’s race. With a more optimised car and fresh determination, Sven was ready for the second day of racing.
A Heated Battle on Sunday
Sunday’s practice runs showed immediate improvement in the car’s performance, but Sven pushed the car a bit too hard. The tires overheated from the aggressive driving, losing some of their grip. Even so, he managed to set the fastest lap time of the day during the practice runs, proving that the adjustments were spot-on.
While he couldn’t quite match his practice time in the official runs, Sven’s consistency and experience paid off, allowing him to secure the class win—a well-deserved victory after a weekend of hard work and smart decisions.
A Weekend of Lessons and Victory
The ASC Ahrweiler Autumn Slalom provided Sven Plate with an opportunity to overcome technical difficulties and push his car to the limit. Despite the challenges on Saturday and the overheated tires on Sunday, he finished the weekend as the class winner.
For Sven and the FOSSER team, this weekend was a reminder that success doesn’t always require perfection. With the right mindset, adaptability, and persistence, even the toughest challenges can be turned into triumphs.
We’re proud of Sven’s performance and look forward to supporting him in his upcoming races!
